METAL: A HEADBANGER'S JOURNEY 2006
|
Review: Sam
Dunn a metal fan and anthropologist takes you on a journey through the life
of Heavy Metal music from its grass roots to current day and discussing to
some point almost all genres and sub-genres of Heavy Metal. Interviews with
legends in metal like Bruce Dickinson, Alice Cooper, Lemmy, Tony Iommi,
and Ronnie James Dio and with members of newer bands like Slipknot and Lamb
of God. He takes you around the world to Wacken festival in Germany, to Norway
to delve deeper into the Norweigian Black Metal scene, to California to discuss
the hair metal scene of the 80's. Me being the age I am, this documentary
takes me through almost all stages of my metal listening history. I think
any listeners of Heavy Metal will get something out of this. Disc 2 features
extra interviews that did not get in the main movie featuring even more Metal
monsters including one with the late Dimebag and brother Vinnie. Also features
interviews with people outside the metal world like Ministers, sociologists,
music writers, a groupie and a Satanist. A great view and would interest
even the non metal fan and maybe give them insight on why so many people
like it and even why so many people don't. A must see for any Metal fan.
