The
Industrial Metal legends are back from the dead in more ways then one
with their newest release RELAPSE. 4 years ago Ministry put out what
was supposed to be their last release but they are back from the dead
with what might be there finest release ever. It reminds me of
the PSALM 69 or THE LAND OR RAPE AND HONEY days. Very heavy in the
industrial/thrash mode. Not as much on the political side as previous
albums but still some reference to it on songs like GIT UP GET OUT 'N
VOTE and 99 PERCENTERS. Ministry is never one for lots of lyrics but
they cover a lot of personal issues with leader Al Jourgensen and I
guess dying 3 times brings out some more personal demons to sing about.
They got songs about drugs, drinking, partying and of course having a
relapse. There is a cover of SOD's UNITED FORCES and the creme de le
creme of the crop here is the 1st track GHOULDIGGERS. A song about the
music industry and how the record labels make more money when the
artist is dead. Even a nod to Amy Whinehouse in the song. The song even
has a little audio "skit" in it that still after many listens to this
song doesn't get boring as it just seems to fit the feel of the song.
This song ranks right up there with JUST ONE FIX in the Ministry
catologue. If its possible to have a more accessible industrial/thrash
this is it. If you have never heard of Ministry and want to check out
some heavy/loud/fast industrial Metal this is one for you. If you are a
fan of Ministry you won't be disappointed. Back from the dead they
are.
