DREAM THEATER SCORE 2006
|
Review: Dream
Theater capture their 20th anniversary world tour in NYC with a special
show during their Octavarium tour. The 1st set features DT starting off
with the metallic The Root Of All Evil and ballad I Walk Beside You,
both from Octavarium. Then they go through their catalogue and even
before that doing one song from each release including back when they
were known as Majesty. Some people will complain on the set list but
that always happens with live shows but DT try to throw different songs
in on each tour and not just rely on old standards. Set 2 opens with a
classical orchestra at the back of the stage and they play along for
the rest of the show. They do the entire 40 minute Six Degrees of Inner
Turbulence as a highlight of the show and the 24 minute Octavarium
before ending the show with the classic Metropolis. And awesome concert
spectacle if you enjoy the classical bits mixed in with the deversity
of DT's songs. i enjoyed it immensely. Disc 2 has the bonus features
with a one hour documentary on how the band started going back to the
days of Petrucci, Myung and Portnoy meeting up at Berkley music
college. It was a interesting documentary to watch as they reminsce
about their career and how the band could of easily ended after a few
albums. You also get 3 bonus live songs from different cities over the
years. Any DT fan will eat this up I am sure. |
